8th annual Bluff International Balloon Festival Jan. 20-22

Bluff, Utah is hosting its eighth annual Bluff International Balloon Festival on Jan. 20-22. Favorites such as the Coyote and Hare Race, Glow-in, Bluff Elementary Navajo Taco Sale Fund-raiser and flights over the Valley of the Gods return.

New this year are a Southwest Cuisine Cook-off between balloon pilots and locals, followed by a free-to-the-public rockin’ good concert by Rich Howard.

Watch as colorful balloons kiss the red rock bluffs. Fun lovers of all ages will enjoy this very friendly event in this beautiful river valley.

Scheduled events include:

Friday, Jan. 20

• 7 a.m., pilot briefing at Bluff Community Center

• Dawn flight over Bluff includes the annual Coyote and Hare Race

• 5:30 p.m., Glow-in surrounding Bluff Community Center

• 6-8 p.m.-Bluff Elementary School Fund-raiser includes the famous Navajo taco sale, plus performances by the Traditional Navajo Song and Dance Team, plus children’s artwork for sale—an annual favorite.

Saturday, Jan. 21

• 6:30 a.m., pilot briefing at Bluff Community Center

• Dawn flight over Valley of the Gods—a visitor favorite

• 4-6:30 p.m., Southwest Cuisine Cook-off—balloonists challenge locals to show off their culinary skills. Visitors participate in the vote for Best Southwest Cuisine. To enter call Amanda Bouchard at 435-672-2425.

• 7-9 p.m., free concert with Rich Howard. Using everything from keyboard to washboard, his lively performances feature contemporary pop, country and the Great American Songbook

Sunday, Jan. 22

• 7 a.m., pilot briefing at Bluff Community Center

• Dawn flight over Bluff—the pilot’s favorite.
