POLACCA -- Hopi High School's Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) contributed toys and Christmas gifts to the six elementary schools on the Hopi Reservation Dec. 19.

The project was the brainchild of Hopi High Junior ROTC cadet Lauren Lomatska. The toys and gifts were donated by Junior ROTC cadets and community members. The Hopi High School Junior ROTC program also purchased toys and gifts for the holiday project.

Lomatska said she was happy and excited about the project because it was something she had never experienced previously.

Lomatska said she thanks all who donated and helped with the project.

Lomatska, 16, said she was proud that she was committed to doing something for the children and the community.

Hopi High Junior ROTC Sgt. Kevin Nance said Lomatska deserves praise for thinking up the project and following it through.
