TUBA CITY - This has been a banner year for TC High's MJROTC program after winning the national awards for National Drill Team Champions and National Marksmanship Team Champions in May. This past Friday, Dec. 15 brought Captain Robert P. St. Croix and Sergeant Gorman of the Marine Inspection Team to rate and score TC High in several categories. TC High eventually received a final rating of Outstanding with a score of 99.2 percent.

Last year, TC High also ranked high, with a final score of 98.7 percent but this year, they surpassed their own prior excellent status.

The TC High program is under the direction and guidance of 1st Sgt. Kenneth Bustamante and GySgt Timothy Shaner.

It has been because of clear, supportive Marine leadership and training from Bustamante and Shaner that has guided the students in the TC High program to national award winning status in both drill team and marksmanship, which is a first for any public school located within a Native reservation.

This past year also brought the students in the TCMJROTC program special state recognition for their new national winning status. They have received recognition from Arizona Governor Janet Napolitano's office, the Navajo Nation Presidents Office, and the executive offices of the Hopi Tribe.
