Sidney Monroe

Graveside service for Sidney Monroe, 91, were held on Saturday, Dec. 23 at the Desert View Cemetery in Winslow. Sidney Monroe passed away on Dec. 19 in Winslow, Arizona. He was born on Aug. 27, 1915 in Tolani Lake. He was a medicine man and very respected. He was an avid sports fan, and watched every NFL, NA and MBA game on TV.

His survivors include his wife, Marilyn of Tolani Lake; daughters, Dolly Monroe, Annie (Onis) Barton and Marilyn (Earl) Dixon, all of Tolani Lake; sons Eddie (Lavern) Monroe of Tolani Lake and Tony (Charlene) Monroe of Oklahoma; brothers Yazzie Monroe of Shonto and Hosteen E. Begay of Gallup, N.M.

He is also survived by his granddaughter Sandy (Darren) Nez of Tolani Lake along with two other grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother Terry Monroe, sister Polly Jackson, and parents Hastii Attosii Begay and Asdzaa Diil. Arrangements were made under the direction of Greer's Mortuary in Winslow.
