Tom Bigman Jr.

TUBA CITY-Tom Bigman Jr. was born in 1937 at Pasture Canyon to the late Tom Bigman Sr. and the late Zonnie Denetsosie of Tuba City. Tom went home to be with the Lord on Dec. 6, 2006, in Tuba City.

Tom Bigman Jr. leaves behind a wife, Susie Slim-Bigman, and many children and grandchildren; the Bigman Family, Goodbear Family, West Family, Begay Family, Yellowman Family, Chewing Family, Lane Family, and Rena West Family.

Survivors include siblings John Bigman, Daniel Bigman Sr., Lee Bigman, Effie June, Lillie Bigman and Cecelia Bigman.

Tom Bigman Jr. was well known for cattle ranching. He maintained hundreds of cattle, sheep and horses. Tom continued to ranch and maintain that lifestyle until his death. He was also very well known for being a carpenter; he built homes for many people in the area and surrounding communities working for construction companies, the Chapter, Navajo Housing Authority and other private companies. He also served on the Chapter Planning Board for the Bodaway/Gap Chapter.

Tom Bigman Jr. was a longtime resident of Cedar Ridge. He was preceded in death by his first wife Ruby Nez Bigman.

Services were held on Saturday, Dec. 9 at the Cedar Ridge Full Gospel Church in Cedar Ridge. He was laid to rest at the family plot Dzillichiii, near the North Rim of Grand Canyon.
