The Winslow Bulldogs cruised past the Holbrook Roadrunners 39-0 in a non-conference football game played in Winslow on Friday. The contest was the first of the season for both elevens.
The Bulldogs scored on their first possession as Mark Armao ran 25 yards on the first play of the drive and scored from 17 yards out on the second. The kick failed and Winslow led 6-0 with 9:20 left in the first period.
Holbrook mounted its only threat of the game late in the first quarter on a 50 yard pass from Zach Candelaria to Johnny Jamie only to see a 30 yard field goal attempt hit the crossbar.
Winslow's defense put the next points on the board as Ray Grabowski picked off a Roadrunner aerial and returned it 40 yards to pay dirt. The kick failed and Winslow led 12-0 with 3:41 left until intermission.
Justin Powell ran 49 yards on the first play from scrimmage after a Holbrook fake punt failed and Winslow led 18-0 with just 1:14 left until the half.
The Bulldogs opened the second half with a 65 yard scoring pass from Art Gonzales to Powell. Armao ran for the two point conversion and a 26-0 lead with 11:37 still left in the third quarter.

Powell scored his third touchdown on a 20 yard run with just 3:52 left on the clock. The conversion failed and the 39-0 final score was on the board.
The Bulldogs defense kept the Roadrunners bottled up on their end of the field most of the night. Powell, Armao and Dillon DeWitt showed a potent running attack and Gonzales added some success through the air.
