8th grade softball wins Rim Country Invite

The Winslow Junior High School eighth grade softball team won the Rim Country Invitational Softball Tournament held in Payson on Sept. 17. Winslow won all four of its tournament game and improved its record for the season to 5-2.

The Winslow girls defeated Mogollon, 14-2, in their first game, and then defeated the host Payson Rim Country Middle School, 11-1. The closest call the Winslow girls had was a 5-3 victory over Show Low in their third game. A 13-2 Winslow win over Snowflake clinched the tournament title for the Lady Bullpups.

This team was slated to meet Payson Rim Country in Winslow on Thursday and will play at St. Johns today.
