Holy Rosary for "Tillie" Telesfora Chavez Magaña was recited on Friday, September 2, 2005 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday, September 3 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Interment followed at Desert View Cemetery.

Tillie was called by the Lord to her final resting place. She was born in Gallup, N.M. on June 1, 1924, second child of Eusebio and Estefana Chavez. She was raised in New Mexico and Concho, Ariz. and lived for a while in Watts, Calif., eventually moving to Winslow in her late teens.

She had many friends that she held close to her throughout her life. She was a woman of many skills. She worked as a waitress, cook, seamstress, caregiver and even worked at the sawmill for a time. In her later years she loved caring for the elderly and rasing her grandchildren.

She was loved by everyone she met. She loved to sing and spend time with her family and could make dazzling outfits that could not be found in any store. She also loved to crochet, but her favorite hobby was playing Keno.

She is survived by her two brothers, Frank (Elaine) Chavez, David (Mary Ann) Chavez and a sister, Beatrice (Frosty) Martinez, all of Winslow; daughter, Patricia Gutierrez of Showlow; sons, Jimmy (Carolyn) Magana, Alex Magana both of Winslow, 21 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and her companion of many years, Walter Rubi.

She is preceded in death by her beloved parents, brother, Eusebio Chavez, and sister, Virginia Sanchez.

Tillie was a woman of great faith, she will be missed by all and will be loved for her eternal life.
