Bulldogs beat up on Greyhills, 50-8

The Winslow Bulldogs remained undefeated in the 3A North Region with an easy 50-8 win over the Greyhills Knights on Thursday at Tuba City. The victory improved Winslow's record to 5-1 for the season and 3-0 in the region. Greyhills fell to 1-4 for the season and 0-2 in the region.

Winslow started strong and scored within the first 22 seconds. Mark Armao picked off a Greyhills pass and scored on a 20-yard run two plays later. Kyle Holland converted for a 7-0 Winslow lead.

The Bulldogs drove 63 yards on their next possession and Armao again capped the drive with a four-yard run on a fourth and one play. The conversion failed and Winslow led 13-0 with 5:24 left in the quarter.

On Winslow's next possession Jordan Payne passed 45 yards to Holland to set up his one yard scoring toss to Matt Oso. The conversion failed again and Winslow led 19-0 with 3:02 still left in the opening quarter.

Payne hit Nick Anderson on a short pass and the big receiver turned it into a 90-yard scoring aerial with a sprint down the sidelines and a nifty cutback. Holland converted and Winslow led 26-0 with 11:02 left until intermission.

Payne passed 43 yards to Holland on Winslow's next possession and Holland's conversion increased the lead to 33-0 with 6:40 remaining in the half.

Armao scored his third touchdown on a 34 yard run the first play after Matt Oso intercepted a Greyhills pass. Oso ran for the two point conversion that gave Winslow a 41-0 lead and ended the first half scoring.

Holland booted a 37 yard field goal for the only scoring in the third quarter. The Bulldogs were content to run the clock the entire second half as Holland missed two more field goals of better than 40-yards.

Art Gonzales replaced Payne at quarterback and ran 24 yards for Winslow's only score of the fourth quarter.

Andrew Ketchum scored on a one-yard quarterback sneak to get Greyhills in the scoring column with just 38 seconds left in the game. A 50 yard Ketchum to Taz Chee pass set up the score. Turner Nackideneh ran for the two point conversion that made the final score a 50-8 Winslow victory.

The Bulldogs will celebrate their Homecoming on Friday by taking on a good Round Valley Elks squad that ruined the top ranked Blue Ridge Yellowjackets Homecoming with a 15-7 upset of the Yellowjackets. The Elks, like Winslow, are 5-1 for the season.
