Funeral services for Maxine Quahi, 78, were held Nov. 19 at Greer's Mortuary Chapel. Interment followed at Desert View Cemetery.
Maxine was a Cattle rancher. She loved her family and ranching. She was very active in the Dilkon Chapter, and often lobbied for seniors at Window Rock.
She worked as a "Harvey Girl" when she lived in California, later moving back to Arizona to work at the Grand Canyon.
She was married and raised five children, and she did work at various reservation schools. When her husband died she became an advocate for seniors' rights until her death.
She is survived by her daughters, Kathryn Quahi, Barbara Ahern, Debra Quahi, Roberta Peaches; son Herbert Quahi; brothers, Chee Keams and Willie Keams; sisters, Effie Nezzie, Moretta Bahe and Betty Chee; ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Preston Quahi; daughter, Patricia Quahi; father Hosteen Tso and mother Alice K. Gishie.
