TC Health Promotion Disease Prevention Program Turkey Trot

TUBA CITY -- The Tuba City Regional Health Care Corps Health Promotion Disease Prevention Program (HPDP) hosted it's 2nd annual Turkey Trot on Nov. 5. A beautiful fall morning turned out 84 participants in the 3K Fun Walk and 5K Run. Nine turkeys went to the top finishers in three categories.

The top finishers in the men's category were: Cordell Segay, First Place; Lawrence Kaibetoney, Second Place; Albert Myron Jr., Third Place. In the women's category, Ylandra Wimmer took First place followed by Second Place Doreen Kiyaani and Third Place Diana Lange.

In the youth category, the top winner was Ryne Hemstreet. Finishing Second place was Billy Orman, and Third Place Lance Nez. One turkey was presented to a lucky winner, Evangeline Shirley, in a raffle drawing. All participants received an apron or potholder and a morning of fun, fitness, and family.

Along with the fun walk and run, the Diabetes Prevention Program and the Nutrition Program dissemintated information on fast food, diabetes prevention and how to make healthy food choices.

The Diabetes Program provided on-site blood sugar screening.

The TCRHCC Health Promotion Disease Prevention Program invites all to join them again on Saturday, Dec. 10 for the third annual Holiday Run, to be held at the Warrior Pavilion on the Tuba City High School campus. For more information, call Health Promotion at 928-283-2404.
