Tuba City Regional Health Care Corp. hosts community blood drive

Tuba City Regional Health Care Corp. (TCRHCC), in collaboration with United Blood Services, is working to address a critically low blood supply in Arizona.

TCRHCC will host a community-wide blood drive on Friday, June 17 from 9 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. The blood drive will take place at the Eubanks Conference Room at Tuba City Regional Health Care Corporation. Appointments will be scheduled starting at 9 a.m. Those interested in donating blood are asked to call 928-283-5114.

"We understand there is an urgent need to increase the blood supply during these months so that their will be enough life-saving blood available for our community," said Martin Foreman, RN, BSN, TCRHCC staff and blood drive coordinator. "Our goal for the drive is to collect 30 units of blood."

To be eligible to give blood, donors must be at least 17 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good health. Donors are also asked to provide a picture ID. The process of donating is simple, quick and safe. The entire donation process will take about 45 minutes.

"Every day blood is needed to save lives, and unfortunately, there is no substitute for this life-saving material. The hospital has heard this plea for help and has stepped up to the challenge of making a difference in Tuba City," said Dr. Scott Deasy, TCRHCC Interim Chief Executive Officer.
