Seven file to run in city election

According to Winslow City Clerk Suzy Wetzel, the six people who took out candidate packets for the city election in 2006, and the one who took one out for mayor, have all returned them.

Wetzel said that because there are only two candidates per opening the city will vacate the primary election scheduled in March and just hold a general in May.

Allen Affeldt was the only person who took out and filed a mayoral packet.

Judy Howell, Maribelle Ogilvie, Harold Soehner, Susan Bumpus, Roy Crain and Lani Owsley had all returned their packets for council seats.

The city's general election is scheduled for May 26, and will be a mail ballot election.

The last day for voters to register for the general election is April 17 by midnight.
