Council plans several work sessions in 2006

During the Dec. 13 City Council meeting, City Administrator Jim Ferguson noted taht several issues needed to be addressed, but that he felt the council should have a work session on each.

He noted several topics in which he would like to hold sessions, including real estate transaction regulations and economic development policy and development agreements.

He said that those two issues had recently arisen during several city discussions over land.

He commented that the council needed to move forward as early as possible on the discussions and other items as well.

Ferguson said there were several items on which work sessions could be held, but asked the council what it felt was the best way to address scheduling that many sessions.

After some discussion, the council agreed to hold its first work session on Jan. 17 from 6 to 7 p.m. in the council chambers. The council also agreed that other sessions could be scheduled as necessary on the first and third Tuesdays of the month.

Work sessions are open to the public, and it was decided that the Planning and Zoning Commission would be invited to the development agreement worksession on the 17th.
