Celebration of life services for Pat Beigel , 67, who passed away in Fresno, Calif., Nov. 26, were held on Dec. 4 at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Hanford, Calif.
Pat was born in McNary on Oct. 11, 1938, and spent most of his childhood in Winslow. He graduated from Arizona State University and moved to California in 1964, where he taught school for 34 years, 27 of those in Hanford as a junior high mathematics teacher and later, as a Special Education teacher. He loved teaching and even after retiring from Hanford Elementary, continued teaching in some capacity until the time he became ill with cancer.
Pat, who was affectionately called "Mr. Baldopholis" by his students, touched so many lives. He made learning fun and inspired several pupils to become teachers. He had a habit of bestowing nicknames on his students, making each one feel special. Pat was a very humble man, but he quietly burst with pride with the successes of his students.
He especially enjoyed traveling, sports--especially Fresno State football and basketball, working in his yard, helping others, finding a bargain, and spending time with his family, in particular watching the activities of his grandchildren. Pat coached all three of his children in baseball and soccer. His children and many of those he coached still remember his throwing that imaginary rock when he was disappointed with a call or a silly mistake made by one of his players. He also served on the Kings Country Planning Commission, was chairman of the Hanford Recreation Commission, Vice President of the Soccer League and Vice President of Little League.
Pat is survived by his wife, Mary; his three children, Leslee Beigel Taylor (Rob) of Porterville, Tom Beigel (Tera) of Hanford, and Dan Beigel of Fresno; one brother, Leslie Beigel of Smithville, Mis.; one sister, Lou Ann Geiger of Apple Valley, Calif.; grandchildren, Ben and Meredith Taylor and Brooklyn and Brinnon Beigel; and many cousins, nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents Clifford "Kip" Beigel and Dorothy Isaacson; and one brother, Hugh.
Remembrances may be made in Pat's name to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 381, Hanford, Calif. 93232, or to a favorite charity.
