WJHS teams start Sept. 1

The Winslow Junior High School football and softball teams are practicing for their opening contests with Snowflake on Sept. 1.

A football game and a softball game will be played in Winslow and the other two games will be played in Snowflake. On Sept. 1, Winslow will host the Snowflake seventh grade teams while Snowflake will host the eighth grade games.

The eighth grade football team is coached by Scott Corum and James Burress with volunteer assistant Quinton Begody. This team opens on Sept. 1 at Snowflake and remains on the road for a game in Show Low on Sept. 15.

The eighth grade football team's first home game is against Rim Country on Sept. 21. Winslow remains at home on Sept. 28 against St. Johns.

On Oct. 6, Winslow is at Blue Ridge and the season will end on Oct. 13 when Winslow entertains Round Valley. All games are slated for 3:30 p.m. starts.

The seventh grade football team is coached by Ricky Greer and Christopher Robertson with volunteer assistant Derrick Knight.

This team will open the season by hosting Snowflake on Sept. 1 and remain at home to host Show Low on Sept. 15. Road games at Rim Country and St. Johns follow on Sept. 22 and 28. The final home game will be played on Oct. 6 against Blue Ridge.

The final contest of the season with be against Round Valley at Eagar on Oct. 13. All games are slated for 3:30 p.m. kickoffs.

The eighth grade softball team is coached by Chris Greer with volunteer assistants Michelle Cuellar and Sandra Knight. This team will play its first game at Snowflake on Sept. 1.

Winslow will play its first home game on Sept. 6 against Round Valley. The team will participate in the Rim Country Invitational Tournament on Sept. 10 at Rim Country with the time for tournament games to be announced later. On Sept. 15, Winslow will play Show Low at Show Low. On Sept., Winslow will host Rim Country.

The Lady Bullpups will remain at home on Sept. 28 when they entertain St. Johns in the last home game of the season. The final regular season game will be played at Blue Ridge on Oct. 6.

The White Mountain Tournaments first round games will be played on Oct. 13 with the times and places to be announced. The White Mountain Tournament finals will be played on Oct. 15 at Snowflake with game times to be announced later. All non-tournament games are slated to begin at 3:30 p.m.

The seventh grade softball team is coached by David Sedillo with volunteer assistant Rita Barton. This team will open its season by hosting Snowflake on Sept. 1.

Winslow will play Round Valley at Eagar on Sept. 6. Winslow will host Show Low on Sept. 15. Winslow will play Rim Country at Rim Country on Sept. 22 and St. Johns in St. Johns on Sept. 28.

The team will participate in the Joseph City Invitational Tournament at Joseph City on Oct. 1 with game times to be announced later. The final game on the season will be played on Oct. 6 when Winslow entertains Blue Ridge.

Game times are slated for 3:30 p.m. starts except for the Joseph City Tournament contests.
