Polly Curley

Polly Curley, 86, passed away August 15, 2005. She was born on March 21, 1919 in Birdsprings, Ariz. to John and Nellie Curley. She is of the Ashiihi clan and born to the Hashkan Hadzoi clan. Her Grandfather is Tohtsoni clan and Nallii's are Tachinii clan.

Polly was a quilt maker and story teller down to the facts of life. She helped to get funding and labor for the Little Singer School.She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister and most of all a friend to all. She would talk to people as if she knew them for a lifetime, even when she would first meet them. She was never afraid to say "Hello," to a stranger or welcome them into her life. She was always pleased to meet a friend and acquaintance with open arms. She was never afraid to speak her mind. She is known to "tell it like it is." She will be missed a great deal.

Rosary was held at 7 p.m., August 17 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Winslow. Funeral services were held the following day at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church.

Survivors include her children, Rosie Keams (Willie), Stanley Curley, Amelia Wilcox (Dean) , Dolly Gonzales (Teno), Todd Curley (Paula), Sandra Hoyungowa (Merrill), Starlene Buonviri (Paul), Terry Curley (Cindy); brothers, Ruben Curley (Ardeth), sisters, Vina Yazzie, Gertrude Hijoe. She is also survived by her 37 grandchildren, 55 great-grandchildren with four on the way and three great-great grandchildrens with two more on the way.

She is preceded in death by her parents; children, Juanita, Persian and Cynthia Curley; brothers, Harris, Phillip and Tony Curley and sisters, Amy and Ora Curley; and five grandsons.
