Speaker Lawrence T. Morgan lends a hand to building the hogan that will be located next to the veteran's center. Because Spring Council session started on Monday, the Speaker and Young Jeff Tom traveled to Tuba City on Sunday to personally help volunteers and the ABC television crew to build the veterans center. The Speaker also sponsored a dinner for the volunteers and crew.

The south Tuba City site of the new Veterans Affairs Office is comparable to a huge human ant colony.

There are security checkpoints for everyone, people are hustling about, huge construction machines are moving, building materials are being trucked in and out. The catering wagon has not stopped since daybreak and it’s only a little after 1:30 in the afternoon.

Literally everyone is assigned specific tasks and there are ABC crew leaders for each task providing oversight management like the well honed machine they are, since the ABC crew has been doing this for two TV seasons.

The end of the season Extreme Makeover episode will feature the new 4,300 square-foot home being built for the parents and children of the late Lori Piestewa just north Flagstaff and the 2,000 square-foot Navajo Nation Veteran’s Affairs Office in Tuba City. It will air May 22.
