Fine crafts sale in Flag

Xmas bazaar in Tuba City

St. Jude’s Catholic Church in Tuba City will hold its annual bazaar on Thursday, Dec. 2 at 6:30 p.m. All those interested in obtaining a table to sell arts, crafts, books, Christmas decorations, deserts or other items should call 928-283-2401 and leave a message. One table costs $20 and two costs $35. There are a limited number of tables available. No food and drinks are allowed at the tables but desserts are allowed.

New AM radio station in Flag

A new radio station, Fox Sports Radio 1650 AM hit the airwaves of Flagstaff Nov. 22. The station features sports talk and sporting event coverage from Fox Sports Radio network. Basketball Tournament

The Tolani Lake Elementary School Basketball Tournament, sponsored by the Tolani Lake Wildcats Sports Program, will take place Nov. 26-27. There are girls and boys 13 and under brackets. Country dance

The Blue Canyon Band will provide the music at the Leupp School’s Inc. country dance 9 p.m.-1 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 27 in Leupp. All proceeds go to toward the special education end of the year trip.

Parent meeting

A parent meeting will be held 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 1 in the auditorium at Greyhills Academy High School in Tuba City. There will be refreshments and door prizes. Students who bring a parent will win a prize.

TC dances

A country western dance featuring music by Stone Country and Redland Country will be held 9 p.m.-1 a.m. Friday, Nov. 26 at Tuba City Community Center. A country western dance featuring music by Blue Canyon and Laredo will be held 9 p.m.-1 a.m. Dec. 4 at the TC Community Center. Admission at each is $10 per person. Ice skating

Jay Lively Ice Arena in Flagstaff is hosting public skating hours throughout the Thanksgiving Holiday weekend. The Ice will be open to all ages for public skating:

• Friday, Nov. 26 & Saturday, Nov. 27, 2-4 p.m. & 7-9 p.m.

• Sunday, Nov. 28, 2-4 p.m. & 6-8 p.m.

Jay Lively Activity Center and Ice Arena will be closed on Thanksgiving Day. Donate to the needy for the holidays during the public skate session on Nov. 26. Bring non-perishable items to the skating session in order to help a family in need. Arts & crafts

Beadwork, ceramics, jewelry and floral arrangements will be on sale Sunday, Nov. 28, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. on the IAIA campus in Santa Fe. The third annual IAIA Christmas Arts & Crafts Sale, an event that brings out the best in the institute’s diverse and talented fine arts community, takes place in Administration Building Hallway Galleries.

Road closure

The portion of East Fir Avenue, a mile stretch of road south of Tuba City Junior High School going east to the old airport road, will be closed until Dec. 5. Traffic will be redirected using the dirt road by the junior high football field and Grand View Avenue. Traffic on East Fir will be limited to school traffic only for this time period. Arboretum Holiday Event

Financial training

Indigenous Community Enterprises (ICE) is a nonprofit organization that has been working within the Navajo Nation and the state to develop assets for low- to moderate-income Native American families. ICE will be providing two six-week financial literacy training sessions for Native Americans living in Flagstaff through funding provided by the Flagstaff Community Foundation. All sessions will be held at the ICE office in Flagstaff (next to Native Americans for Community Action). Session 1 will be from Jan. 5-Feb. 16; session 2 will be from March 2-April 20. ICE has a total of 10 positions available for the savings program. Anyone interested in participating should call 928-522-6162.

Smoki Museum

Christmas around the Kiva, Smoki Museum’s American Indian Art and Culture, will feature its annual program Dec 4 and 5 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. There will be live Indian flute music, refreshments and three Indian guest artists.
