To the Editor:
I can remember when Flagstaff was the size of Winslow. Their businessmen were not afraid of competition. They let industries into their community.

They now have reached the point where they can turn down “big box” stores without that decision having a major impact one way or the other.

I see small businesses springing up with every visit I make to Flagstaff.

Years back, every opportunity for growth was met with resentment and annoyance by the leaders of this town. The amount of red tape involved discouraged visitors from settling here. Instead, they moved to the towns that welcomed them with open arms.

Because a handful of businessmen didn’t want to “share the pie,” we’ve remained stagnate through the years.

Allowing a Supercenter to come into Winslow will lower the cost of living for everyone. We have the opportunity to accomplish just that. I sincerely hope we don’t pass it up.

What's the best part about the Christmas Parade?

Seeing all our high school friends and the close community ties that Winslow has. Everyone knows everyone and supports each other. We are there as often as possible.
