Armenta, Payne, Garner on All State Baseball Team

Winslow High School junior shortstop Lucas Armenta has been selected to the Arizona State 3A All Conference first team. WHS senior catcher Nathan Garner and sophomore centerfielder Jordan Payne were selected to the elite squad’s second team.

Both the Player of the Year and the Coach of the Year hailed from Fountain Hills High School. Mike Brigulio was the Coach of the Year and Tyler Ruch was the Player of the Year.

The first team All Conference squad included Armenta, seniors Mark Gaulden of Sedona (catcher/pitcher), Kendal Bryan of Snowflake (pitcher), Tony Espinosa of Santa Cruz (catcher/pitcher), Matt Strickland of Camp Verde (shortstop), Austin Jones of Fountain Hills (catcher), K. J. Nellis of Sahuarita (second base), Nick Hart of Show Low (second base), Bryce Davin of Blue Ridge (pitcher), Hayden Moss of Queen Creek (outfield) and Morse of Wickenburg (outfield). Pitcher Pat De La Cerda of Higley was the only junior on the squad other than Armenta.

The second team All Conference squad consisted of Payne, Garner, seniors Kevin Long of Window Rock (pitcher/third base), Ivan Hernandez of Rio Rico (shortstop), Brock Aiton of Chino Valley (pitcher), Jeff Tenney of Show Low (shortstop), Tom San Filipo of Queen Creek (catcher), Neil Kerkhof of Seton Catholic (catcher), Robbie Fogelsanger of Higley (pitcher), Sean Reilly of Seton Catholic (pitcher/outfielder), junior Daniel Rivera of Show Low (outfielder) and freshman Manny Bareda of Sahuarita (pitcher).
