AZ Indian Town Hall registration

The 24th Arizona Indian Town Hall, “Building Partnerships to Strengthen Families, Communities and Cultures,” will be held June 7-9 at Doubletree La Posada Resort in Scottsdale. Powwow at Coconino High

The Coconino High School Native American Club is hosting a Contest Winner-Takes-All Powwow scheduled for Friday and Saturday, May 14 and 15 at the Coconino High School Main Gym in Flagstaff. The Pow-wow begins on Friday at 6 p.m. and will end at 12 a.m. The following day on Saturday, May 15, it will begin at 11 a.m. and will end at 12 a.m. All dancers and vendors are welcome. Spring Spirit Shoot-out in TC

The To’nanees’Dizi Spring Festival Spring Spirit Shoot-out will be held May 14-16 at the Tuba City Community Center. The entry fee is $275, with $150 due at the door. For more information, call To’Nanees’Dizi Chapter at 283-3284 and after 6 p.m., call 928-283-6367.

Vance Haines at casino

Vance Haines will perform free at 8:45 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, May 14 and 15, at the Dragonfly Lounge at Cliff Castle Casino. Haines plays the best in top 40 country hits. Cliff Castle Casino is in Camp Verde located just east of I-17, at exit 289. For more information call 928-567-7900.

Business roundtables

Free roundtable meetings on business topics are scheduled in Monument Valley and Kayenta. On Mondays, they will be held in Monument Valley, College of Eastern Utah, Goulding’s Campus, from 6-9 p.m. On Tuesdays, meetings will be held at Kayenta Township Commission Conference Room from 9 a.m.-noon. Topics and dates are:

• May 17 and 18, Marketing Research and Strategies—from word of mouth to the internet, the importance of customer relations and communication.

• May 24 and 25, Financial Literacy and Consumer Protection—Understanding credit ratings, how to get a credit report and how to repair it. Guest speaker from Small Business Administration, to be announced. For information on any of these meetings, call ABC Inc. at 928-871-5273.

Country/western dances

Several country/western dances will be held at the Kayenta Middle School cafeteria in Kayenta. Neon Moon Express will play on Friday, May 14, Stone Country on May 29 from and Ace’s Wild on June 5. All are 9 p.m,-1 a.m.

Golf tourney in Page

The third annual CUDDLE Outreach Scramble golf tournament will be held on Saturday, June 5 at Lake Powell National Golf Course in Page. Tee-off is 9 a.m. with a shotgun start, four-person scramble and four-person team format. Specific instructions to be given the day of the tournament. Diabetes Education

A seven-week series of diabetes education classes will be held on Wednesday evenings from 6-8 p.m. in the Telemedicine Room of the Diabetes Clinic at the Tuba City hospital. The dates and topics are as follows: May 12, What is Diabetes; May 19, Nutrition and Diabetes; May 26, Exercise and Diabetes; June 2, Complications of Diabetes; June 9, Foot Care; June 16, Supermarket Tour, (meet at Basha’s); June 23, Graduation. Tourism Biz Academy

Learn about Diné Tourism Academy and opportunities for business. This free academy is for anyone determined to be successful in the tourism industry. It will be held Tuesday, May 18, from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. in the Training Room, Nizhoni Building, TAOS Campus (1/4 mile west of highway 491 in Tohatchi N.M.). Participants can form peer roundtables to obtain bookkeeping and marketing assistance, business advice, a website for e-commerce and even a toll-free reservation service. Boys b-ball

Iron Man 12 and under boy’s basketball tournament at the Hopi High School gym. Play will begin on May 15, at 9 a.m. and will run all day until the entire tournament is over. Proof of age must be provided when asked for (no copies will be accepted; originals only). The entry fee is $50 per team. Limited to eight teams only with double elimination format.
