Saying goodbye to <i>"The Winslow Mail"</i>

It’s been a good year and a half working for The Winslow Mail, but I feel I need to explore different avenues in order to reach my goals and dreams and provide for my two wonderful children. I have enjoyed working for the paper, but my favorite part of my job was getting to know so many of you.

I have enjoyed covering the memories of so many of the good people here in Winslow. My favorite story I covered was the homecoming of U.S. Army National Guard SPC. John Ortega. Ortega, as so many of you have probably read, returned from Iraq where he served during Iraqi Freedom. I will never forget his wonderful family and the emotions they shared with me on their most joyous day.

I would also like to thank my former boss, Linda Benham, for the awesome opportunity she granted me here at the paper. I would also like to personally thank my former Editor, Brooke Hodges, for teaching me the ropes of her busy job.

I am also grateful to the WNI corporation for allowing me to experience so much in a little town. I have learned so much about Winslow through my daily reporting; Winslow is full of a lot of good people, and for a small town I feel it has a lot of opportunities for its residents and future residents.

The Winslow Unified School District is an awesome school district with some of the best administrators and teachers in the state. WUSD really takes the children in their district to heart and I for one am grateful.

The Little League program is a program I hold high regards for. The coaches are truly a blessing to so many kids who don’t have much in their lives. Watching a child get excited about hitting a ball is a rewarding experience and even more so when you see the coaches’ reaction to the child reaching his or her goals with the game.

In closing, I would like to again thank the members of the community of Winslow for being so hospitable in allowing me into so many of your homes and lives.

This is Cressent Buckles, Reporter for The Winslow Mail, signing off.
