Hopi Food & Agriculture Symposium <br>

KYKOTSMOVI — June 16 marked the first time that an agricultural and organic food symposium directly benefited the Hopi Reservation. The daylong event, “Natwani Hopit Qatsimkiwa’at,” took place at Hopi Day School in Kykotsmovi.

Two of the event co-organizers, Andrew Lewis and Tammy Tootsie-Trottier, said that they wanted to enable Hopi people to have immediate access to services and resources that could encourage more agricultural activities on the rez. Lewis is one of several founders of the Natwani Coalition or “Natwanit Tu’sawyaqam.” Trottier is wellness coordinator at the Hopi Healthcare Center.
