Greyhills Academy grads urged to keep cultural ties<br>

She thanked her family for unconditional support and continuous love throughout those four years. She also expressed appreciation to the teachers who recognized gifts and talents in the students.

Bahe said that she’d always cherish her high school years for association with her “closest friends, we laughed and we cheered.”

She said that she was grateful for the greatest discoveries of high school. She encouraged her class mates to make use of their resources because “time is precious; life is precious.”

Salutatorian Lance McCabe told his graduating class that they were the source of his inspiration.

“We managed to have fun and also made time for school,” McCabe said. “You all have capabilities to succeed. Don’t give up on what you are striving for in your life.”

He said that by knowing their capabilities he is not worried because he knows they will succeed.

Special moments

The 53 members of the 2004 Graduating Class selected for their class flower, a Casa Blanca Lily, their class song was, “Heart of a Champion” by Thug Angel, class colors were lavender, white and silver. Their class motto: “If my mind can conceive it, and my heart can believe it, I know I can achieve it.”

The graduation program started with the posting of colors by the Tuba City High School Junior ROTC Flag Squad. Michael G. Begay rocked the National Anthem on electric guitar, with Ricardo Mora serving as the master of ceremonies.

Tacy Biakeddy, 2003-04 Student Council president gave the invocation with Superintendent Andrew Tah following with a welcome address.

Principal Judith Littlefox presented the seniors to the Governing Board of Greyhills Academy High School. Board President Arthur Tracy accepted the graduating class and Tah presented diplomas. Senior Class President Roylynda Johnson led the changing of tassels.

A special gift was presented to Dr. Agnes Wu, Math and Science Department Dean and Teacher, and to Dr. Begaye. Dr. Wu received a rug while Dr. Begaye was draped with a Pendleton rope.

Tacy Biakeddy announced the new president of the Student Council, Vanessa Smith, and senior Montey Dodson gave the benediction.

The graduation program started at one o’clock and lasted one hour and 20 minutes. By three o’clock, the parking lot was empty. Left behind were some ribbons, balloons and a lot of memories.
