Winslow Correctional officer shanked
A correctional officer at the Arizona State Prison Complex-Winslow was stabbed multiple times by an inmate on Monday, Jan. 19 at approximately 10:30 a.m.
According to the prison’s Public Information Officer, Jim Robideau, an inmate had slipped out of one of his handcuffs and stabbed the officer twice, once in the head and once in the right hand.
Warden Nelson said the inmate used a knife that the inmate had constructed out of a piece of plastic he broke off of his light fixture in his cell.
Other officers rushed to the scene. The inmate was apprehended and taken back to his cell.
The wounded officer was taken to Winslow Memorial Hospital, where he was treated for minor injuries and released.
The inmate, according to Robideau, will most likely be charged for his actions.
