Inter-Tribal Council in Flag

The Coconino County Inter-Tribal Advisory Council’s next meeting is 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 3. Come hear J. R. Benefit Social Song & Dance

Everyone is welcome to a Benefit Social Song and Dance, Saturday, Jan. 31 at Tonalea School in Tonalea. Emcees are Billy Reese Kee and Quinn Montoya. Hosts are the Western Sun Travelers and sponsors are Tonalea Eighth Grade Class. Registration is at 10 a.m., with the Grand Entry at 1 p.m. Grocery awards go to all group singers and dancers. Donations of groceries and other items are appreciated.

Page High holds contest pow-wow

Page High School UNITY is hosting a contest pow-wow Saturday, Jan 31 at the school. Events include a Drum Contest, Teen Girls Fancy Special, Teen Boys Grass Special and Men’s Chicken Dance Special. M.C. is Dennis Bedoni/Diné Tuba City; Arena Director, Harvey Laughter/Diné Shonto; Host Northern Drum, RiverTail Singers, Flagstaff; Head Lady, Shalonna Secody, Kaibeto; and Head Man Dominic Curley, Kaibeto. Gourd Dancing will be 10 a.m.-6 p.m., with Grand Entry at noon and 7 p.m. Admission is $5 for 12 years and up, $3 for 11 and under and free for those under 5. Co-ed basketball

Diné College Co-ed Basketball Tournament will be held Friday to Sunday, Jan. 30-Feb. 1, at Diné College, Tsaile. Awards go to first through fifth place, male and female MVPs, 24 all-tourneys, Mr. & Ms. Hustle, sportsmanship and traveling. For more information or entries call 928-724-6943.

A Navajo Taco sale will be held 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday, Jan 29, at Kinlani Bordertown Dormitory, 901 N. Kinlani Road Flagstaff. The cost is $5. Dine in and forget about washing dishes. Spelling Bee

The Western Regional Spelling Bee will be held 9 a.m. Feb 12 at Greyhills Academy High School in Tuba City. Nineteen schools across the Western Navajo Agency will be sending their top spellers to compete —an estimated of 240 youth from fourth through eighth grades.
