US Forest Service welcomes comments on Snowbowl DEIS

As I’m sure many of you are aware the Forest Service issued a press release last week announcing it supported snowmaking at Arizona Snowbowl on San Francisco Peaks—a mountain very sacred to both the Navajo and Hopi people. (See article on page 2.)

Following that announcement is a 60-day comment period. You have time to review the draft environmental impact statement and compose your reaction to it. Comments may be pro or con, but try to be very specific about why you take the stance you do.

There will be a public open house on the DEIS held 4-8 p.m. Feb. 28 at Flagstaff High School in the commons area. The public is invited to drop in at this open house any time during the four-hour period and talk to a variety of resource specialists. Comment forms will be available at the open house, and the Forest Service will collect comments at this event.
