Lady Bulldogs Regional Champions at 25-2

The Winslow Lady Bulldogs continued to enjoy a sparkling season by claiming the 3A North Region Championship in Tuba City on Saturday with a 69-63 win over Monument Valley. The win sent the Lady Bulldogs into the Arizona State 3A Conference Tournament with a record of 25 wins and only two defeats.

On Friday, the Lady Bulldogs defeated Ganado 62-38 to advance to the finals of the tournament. Starla McCurtain led Winslow with 17 points. Levyna Ben was also in double digits with 12 points. Waynette Taylor led Ganado with 10 points.

On Saturday, the Lady Bulldogs staged a furious second half rally to erase a large Monument Valley Lady Mustangs lead and claim the regional championship with a 69-63 victory. Monument Valley led 22-8 after the first period and 34-20 at the intermission before the Winslow scoring machine got into high gear. Starla McCurtain led all scorers with 24 points, including five three-point baskets. JoDawn White with 16 points and Lindsey Begaii with 14 were also in double figures for Winslow. Samantha Harrison led Monument Valley with 20 points. Irene Bahe was also in double figures with 12 points.
