Hopi benefit dinner and raffle

The Hopi Arts & Crafts Cooperative Guild is hosting a benefit dinner and raffle to be held Feb. 7 in Flagstaff at the Museum of Northern Arizona on Fort Valley Road north of downtown Flagstaff. The raffle will feature a variety of renowned Hopi artists and their art pieces. Proceeds raised at the event will assist the Hopi Guild to continue to perform a vital role in promoting excellence in the authentic Hopi art forms and to continue to provide benefits, services and market opportunities to local artists in the Hopi communities.

The dinner will begin at 5 p.m. with Hopi traditional foods, followed by a raffle. Dinner is $20 per person or $30 a couple. Raffle tickets are $5 a chance or $25 for six tickets. Navajo EARTH Study project

Navajo EARTH (Education and Research Towards Health) Study is hosting an Open House starting at 9 a.m. Feb 13 at the Navajo Nation Shopping Center, in space #13 (2 doors west of True Value store) in Window Rock.

Learn about the Navajo EARTH Study Project, meet the Navajo EARTH Study staff, tour the facilities and obtain study information. Sponsors are Navajo EARTH Study, Window Rock Field Office and the University of Utah Department of Family and Preventative Medicine. Refreshments will be served. Spring N2 Summer

It is time again for the Tuba City Regional Health Care Cooperation’s Spring Into Summer Wellness Challenge. Registration for the Challenge will be on Feb 9 through Feb 20. This is an incentive based program, focused on individual goal setting and team participation. The program is open to Tuba City Regional Health Care Corporations Employees/families, students, local businesses, and all community members of Tuba City and surrounding areas. Aside completeing a registration form, some decent workout clothes, and a commitment towards increased wellness and fitness, the only responsibility to take part. This year’s challenge will start on March 1st, and will continue to May 14th (10 week program). Team Captains will have two meetings on Feb 11th and Feb 18th. Meetings will take place in the TCRHCC Board Room between 12 p.m. and 12:30 p.m. (noon), to pickup registration forms and packets. Captains will go over the following team administration activities: registration forms, new formats, scheduled walks, bonus points etc. All captains are requested to attend. Groups, which succeed in reaching, their team goals of 70% or higher will be awarded special incentive items. Packets may be picked up in the Health Promotions Program Office at TCRHCC, Rm. 82.

MacDonald at college

Dine College kicks off its spring speaker series by hosting former tribal chairman Peter MacDonald, who will deliver a presentation entitled “Education and Current Issues Facing the Navajo Nation.” Mr. MacDonald will speak at the Tsaile Campus on Thursday, February 5, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. in room 199 of the Ned Hatathli Center. He will do the same presentation at Shiprock Campus on Friday, February 6, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. in the large conference room. All students, staff, and the general public are invited. Leadership Skills

A four day workshop on Leadership Skills will be held on: Friday, February 20, 8:00am-5:00pm; Saturday, February 22, 9:00am – 1:00pm; Friday, March 5, 8:00am – 5:00pm, and Saturday, March 6, 9:00am – 1:00pm, Fridays. The registration deadline is February 6th, and the cost is $10 with registration and $88 on the first day, checks, VISA, and MASTERCARD accepted.
