Alchini Fest at Greyhills

The public is invited to attend Tuba City Boarding School’s Alchini Festival at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 15 in Greyhills Academy High School auditorium. ‘North Pole Escapades’

Come share the holiday spirit and fun with friends and neighbors on Saturday, Dec. 11 in downtown Flagstaff. The sixth annual APS Northern Lights Holiday Parade will bring arctic dreams and tales to life with its theme, “North Pole Escapades.” Approximately 60 entries will begin their journey at Beaver and Fine streets, go south on Beaver to Aspen, east on Aspen to San Francisco and north on San Francisco to Elm. The festivities will begin at 6 p.m. and are expected to last less than two hours.

A judges and announcers stage will be set up in Heritage Square. Also in the square Santa will be meeting with children in the afternoon before the parade. Holiday Run

Come join the Tuba City Health Promotion Program for the second annual Holiday 5K Run and 3K Fun Walk on Saturday, Dec. 11 at the Tuba City High School Warrior Pavilion (east entrance). What a festive way to enter the holidays: great holiday music, and Polaroid picture with Santa Claus. Registration will start at 9 a.m. and the race will start at 9:30 a.m. Categories for the Holiday Run include: Men & Women 5K Run, 16 & Under 5K Run; 3K Walking Division; Stroller Division, and Best Holiday Dress Award! Xmas toy drive

Navajo Way Inc. is holding a Christmas Holiday Toy Drive. Toys can be dropped off at the St. Michael’s Professional Building, # 2 (second floor) Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. The building is located behind the St. Michaels Post Office. For more information, call 928-871-6661.

Xmas bazaar

Monument Valley High School Multi-Cultural Club is holding a Christmas Bazaar 5-8 p.m. tonight (Dec. 8) in the school halls, courtyard and cafeteria. Vendor spaces are $10 for non-food booths, $15 for food booths and $5 for additional booth space. Vendors are asked to bring their own tables and chairs. Main Street, downtown Farmington, N.M. from 1-5 p.m. Dec. 18 for an afternoon with Blackhorse Mitchell, author of “Miracle Hill - The Story of a Navajo Boy.” Enjoy a cup of Seattle’s Best coffee and a gourmet salad or sandwich in the company of Blackhorse Mitchell, who will autograph books, play his flute, offer readings from his work and talk about his most recent screenplay. A country western dance featuring music by Aces Wild will be held 9 p.m.-1 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 11 in Kayenta Middle School cafeteria. Proceeds from this event benefit KMS Student Incentive Program.

Wings of America

Wings of America is seeking 14-19-year-old runners for junior men and junior women six person all-American Indian teams for the USA Track & Field Cross Country Championships to be held Feb. 10-14 in Vancouver, Wash.
