Become advocates for your language and your culture<br>

In early February, I had the privilege of attending the National Association for Bilingual Education’s conference in Albuquerque, N.M. I attended many wonderful workshops that give best practices for bilingual education and talk about the future of education for our bilingual programs.

For more than a generation, Native Americans and immigrants to this country have been stripped of their culture and their language by a majority who brain washed society into believing that the way to be successful in America was to blend in. This blending in meant trying to fit our very diverse identities into a “one-size-fits-all” society: same values, same clothes and the same language.
