Bulldogs Won Three Regional Games

The Winslow Bulldogs baseball team won three more 3A North Region games by lop-sided scores to improve their record to 5-0 for the season. Winslow was 16-7-1 for the season after the victories. None of the games were competitive.

On Tuesday, April 13, the Bulldogs defeated Monument Valley in a game that was halted after five innings due to the mercy rule. Particulars regarding that game were lost due to a computer malfunction. The Winslow pitching was effective and the Bulldogs pounded out approximately 20 hits in the rout.

On Thursday, the Bulldogs journeyed to Ganado and bombed the Hornets for 18 hits and 27 runs in their 27-4 victory. Michael Soehner was the winning pitcher, allowing four runs (one earned) on four hits. He fanned 11 and walked one.

Lucas Armenta was four for five at the plate with two home runs and a triple. Alex Richards was three for three with a double. Jordan Payne was two for three with a triple. Jonah Budka was two for two with a double. Matt Oso was one for one with a double. Daniel Bailon and George Vasquez ere also one for one. Soehner and Pierre Arossa each had a double in two trips. Lambert Dixson was one for two. Anthony Martinez had a double in three trips.

On Saturday, Winslow defeated Tuba City 32-2 in yet another contest shortened due to the mercy rule. Alex Richards got the win, working five innings and giving up two runs (one earned) on one hit and three walks. He fanned eight.

Armenta was five for five with a home run and two doubles. Nathan Garner, Dixson and Vasquez were all two for two. Garner had a double, Dixson a triple and Vasquez two doubles. Payne was three for five with three doubles. Dustin Cole was one for one.

Winslow will complete the regular season this week. The Bulldogs play at Blue Ridge today (April 21) in a non-conference game. The last home game will be played on Friday against the Window Rock Scouts and the season finale will be played on Saturday at Pinon.
