The Winslow High School baseball, softball and track teams came back from their spring breaks to continue successful seasons. The baseball and softball teams were in action on Tuesday and will be again today (April 7). The track teams swing back into action today.
The Lady Bulldogs softball team had won 17 games while losing five before their brief hiatus from the diamond. Winslow had won the 3C’s/Bojo’s Classic Tournament after finishing second in the Parker Invitational. The Greyhills Lady Knights were in town on Tuesday to provide Winslow with its first 3A North Region challenge. The Lady Bulldogs will host Blue Ridge in a non-conference game tomorrow before resuming regional play against the Hopi Lady Bruins at Polacca on Thursday.
The rest of the schedule has Monument Valley at Winslow on Tuesday, April 13, Winslow at Ganado on Thursday, April 15, Tuba City at Winslow on Saturday, April 17, Winslow at Blue Ridge for the last non-conference game of the season on Wednesday, April 21, Window Rock at Winslow on Friday, April 23 and Winslow at Pinon for the last regular season game of the year on Saturday, April 24. Regional play will begin on Tuesday and Wednesday, April 27 and 28 for teams not finishing in the top two in the region. Winslow will host the 3A North Regional Tournament on Friday and Saturday, April 30 and May 1. All four teams qualifying for the regional tournament will advance to the Arizona State 3A Conference Tournament in Phoenix on May 7, 8, 14 and 15.
The Bulldogs baseball team began regional play against Greyhills on Tuesday after posting an 11-7-1 record for the first part of the season. The Bulldogs will also host Blue Ridge in a non-conference game today. The balance of the schedule mirrors the softball schedule with Winslow at Hopi on April 8, hosting Monument Valley on April 13, at Ganado on April 15, hosting Tuba City on April 17, at Blue Ridge on April 21, hosting Winslow on April 23 and ending the regular season at Pinon on April 24. The 3A North Region Baseball Tournament will begin on April 27 and 28 with the semi-finals and finals at Winslow on April 30 and May 1. The state tournament will be held in Phoenix on May 7, 8, 14 and 15.
The Winslow track teams have enjoyed success in the first portion of their seasons and will resume action tonight by hosting Hopi, Flagstaff and Ganado in a four-team meet. After that meet, the team will participate in a series of invitational meets.
The track teams will participate in the Blue Ridge Invitational on Thursday, April 15, the Buckeye Invitational on Saturday, April 17, the Blue Ridge Relays on Wednesday, April 21 and the Kingman Invitational on Saturday, April 24.
Winslow will host the prestigious Winslow Invitational Track Meet on Friday, April 30. The 3A North Regional Meet will also be held in Winslow on Friday, May 7. The Arizona State 3A Conference Meet will be held in Phoenix on May 14 and 15.
