Avalon Quartet performs student compositions <br>

The Avalon String Quartet is comprised of Blaise Magniere, violin; Marie Wang, violin; Brian Chen, viola; and Sumire Kudo, cello. They play classical music in a chamber music style. The group also has a performance planned for Scottsdale Community College.

Hoffman said most of the schools, including Hopi Junior/Senior High School, had great audiences that were attentive and appreciative.

Hoffman thanks the four teachers from each high school who helped with the project: Blair Quamahongnewa, Hopi High; J.R. Whidden, Greyhills; Tom and Karin Jones from Tuba City High; and Tom Irwin from Monument Valley High School.

Hoffman said she also wants to thank those who funded the program: National Endowment for the Arts, WESTAF (the Western State Arts Federation), Arizona Commission on the Arts and the Compton Foundation
