Bulldogs take Monument Valley in Homecoming 2003 contest 48-0

Winslow took advantage of good field position and drove 38 yards for the first score of the game. Jeremiah Johnson hit Lucas Armenta from 13 yards out and Mark Spencer converted for a 7-0 Winslow lead with 7:17 left in the first period.

Spencer Prosser broke through a huge hole for a 64-yard run and the first score of the second period. Spencer’s conversion gave Winslow a 14-0 lead with 9:47 left until intermission.

The final score of the first half came on an 85-yard pass from Johnson to Jordan Payne with 3:48 left on the clock. The conversion attempt failed and the Bulldogs took a 20-0 lead into the half-time festivities.

Johnson hit Armenta for an apparent 55-yard touchdown that was nullified by a holding penalty. One play later he hit Spencer from 43 yards out for the touchdown that gave the Bulldogs a 27-0 lead after Spencer’s conversion at the 10:52 mark of the third period.

Johnson scored on a one-yard sneak to complete a 59-yard drive with 43 seconds left in the quarter. Prosser ran for the two point conversion that gave Winslow a 35-0 lead entering the final period.

Prosser ran 81 yards for a touchdown with 11:26 left in the game. Spencer converted for a 42-0 lead.

The final score of the game came on a pass interception by Josh Stago who returned the ball 15 yards for the touchdown. The conversion attempt failed and the 48-0 score was on the board.

The Bulldogs are slated to play the Hopi Bruins in Polacca on Friday. Hopi was 2-1 in the region and 2-3 for the season entering Friday’s game with Greyhills.
