Track teams second in four-team meets

The Winslow High School boys’ and girls’ track teams both finished second in the four-team meets held in Winslow on Wednesday. Snowflake won both meets with Winslow finishing second, St. Johns third and Show Low fourth. Scores in the boys’ meet were Snowflake 85, Winslow 63, St. Johns 57 and Show Low 37. Scores in the girls’ meet were Snowflake 92, Winslow 82, St. Johns 45 and Show Low 12.

Winslow boys who won their events included Billy Wilcox (1600 meters and 3200 meters) and Mark Rostedt (800 meters). Rostedt was also second in the 1600 meters.

Winslow girls who won their events included Stephanie Garnett (100 meters, long jump and triple jump), Janeen Yazzie (1600 meters), Kelly Saganey (800 meters), Heather Johnson (3200 meters) and the 3200-meter relay team. Saganey was also second in the 16 00 meters.

Other Winslow boys who finished second included Brandon Mitchell (shot put and discus), Derek Thompson (3200 meters) and the 3200-meter relay team. Thompson also finished third in the 1600 meters.

Other Winslow girls who finished second included Joanna Black (800 meters), Lindsey Begaii (3200 meters) and the 1600-meter relay team.

Other Winslow boys who finished third included Efrem Yazzie (800 meters), Ferral Williams (3200 meters) and the 1600-meter relay team. Yazzie also finished fourth in the 400 meters.

Winslow girls who finished third included Amy Lee (100 meter hurdles and 300 meter hurdles), Johanna Begay (1600 meters and 800 meters), Debra Hancock (400 meters), Karla Curley (3200 meters) and the 400 meter relay team. Hancock also finished fourth in the 200 meters.

Other Winslow boys who finished fourth included John Sullivan (shot put and discus), Orlando Vargas (long jump) and the 400-meter relay team. Vargas was also fifth in the 100 meters.

Larissa Bratt finished fourth in the 400 meters.

Other Winslow boys who finished fifth included Carl Begay (800 meters), Jeremiah Johnson (400 meters) and Nick Anderson (long jump).
