Two heads are better that one<br>Merchants Association linked to Downtown Renovation Task Force by City Council

The newly created Winslow Business Association’s Advisory Board will now be working with the Downtown Renovation Vision 21 Task Force on the planning process for downtown.

At last Tuesday’s City Council meeting, Mayor Jim Boles made a motion that joined the advisory board with the task force. The advisory board will remain a separate entity when addressing the council but will be included as part of the task force during planning sessions.

His motion set forth the guidelines that if the board and task force could not come up with a consensus, then all ideas would be brought before council and they would make their decision based on what is presented.

Kate Whitty, owner off the Seattle Grind, represented the Association in saying the compromise would be a good thing.

The advisory board is made up of Alan Affeldt, Jim Steagall, George Stegmeir, Rhonda Greer, Vicki Candelaria and Karen Harvey.

Participating in the Association is open to all business members and owners, according to Whitty.

They meet the first Tuesday of every month at the La Posada Hotel.
