Winslow High School will host the premier wrestling event of its season on Friday and Saturday when teams from all over the state congregate for the Doc Wright Invitational Wrestling Tournament. This will be the 39th annual Doc Wright Wrestling Tournament to be held in Winslow.
Schools expected to participate include 5A Mesa, Gilbert, Peoria and Agua Fria; 4A Coconino, Page, Sinagua and Flagstaff; 3A Chino Valley, Ganado, Holbrook, Greyhills, Hopi, Window Rock, Snowflake and Winslow; 2A Canyon State Academy and 1A Joseph City.
Action will begin at 1 p.m. on Friday with the opening round of championship competition. The second round of championship competition and the beginning of consolation competition are set to begin at 4 p.m.
There will be two sessions on Saturday. The first session will begin at 10 a.m. and include the second round of consolation competition, the semi-finals of championship competition and the quarter and semi-final rounds of consolation competition. The third session will begin at 5 p.m. and include the final rounds of the championship and consolation competition, a parade of champions and the awards ceremonies.
