Winslow teams return to action

The Winslow High School baseball, softball and track teams all returned to action this week after the Spring Break and events cancelled due to high winds last week. The first week of idleness was planned; the second was forced by weather.

The Bulldogs baseball team did get in a game at Coconino that saw their record fall to 4-7-1.

The softball team’s game with Snowflake was cancelled, as was a baseball contest with the same opponent.

The Winslow track teams will host Flagstaff, Ganado and Hopi at 3 p.m. today (April 9) in their first action since the Spring Break. Those teams will participate in the Buckeye Invitational Track Meet on Saturday.

The Bulldogs baseball team hosted Tuba City on Tuesday in a 3A North Region contest. The Camp Verde Cowboys will be in town on Wednesday for a non-conference game. The Bulldogs will host the Captain Tony’s Classic Invitational Tournament on Friday and Saturday and resume 3A North Region play on Tuesday, April 15 when they host the Ganado Hornets.

The Lady Bulldogs softball team also hosted Tuba City on Tuesday and will participate in the Snowflake Invitational Tournament on Friday and Saturday. The Winslow girls will also host Ganado on April 15. The Lady Bulldogs won their first 13 games of the season, but have suffered three straight shut-out losses to Blue Ridge and Seton Catholic (twice) to drop to 13-3 for the season.
