Bulldog Baseball defeats Chino Valley, falls to Snowflake - brings record to 2-4-1
The Snowflake Lobos defeated the Winslow Bulldogs 13-3 in a non-conference baseball game played in Snowflake on Wednesday.
A porous defense proved Winslow’s downfall as starting pitcher Lambert Dixson allowed only one earned run on just six hits. Seven unearned runs were just too much to overcome.
Snowflake scored four times in the first inning on two hits and four Winslow errors.
Winslow did all of its scoring in the top of the second on a walk, a single by Jordan Payne, a triple by Andrew Richards and a sacrifice by Matt Gose. Defense continued to hurt the Bulldogs in the bottom of the frame, though as a key error and three hits led to three more Lobo runs, only one of which was earned. A hit and an error in the third plated still another unearned run.
Five runs against relievers Joseph Sanchez and Armenta in the fifth led to the game being called under the “mercy” rule. Those runs scored on two hits, another error, three walks and a hit batsman.
Richards, Nathan Garner and Payne were one for two with Richards having a triple. Lyle Brown and Steven Martinez were each one for three with both hits being doubles.
Winslow 0 3 0 0 0 0 - 3 5 7 4
Snowflake 4 3 1 0 5 x - 13 8 1 7
At then end of this weeks play, the Bulldogs had a 2-4-1 record for the season.
