9-11 Remembered with dedication of new garden<br>

Weed and Seed Coordinator Bill Herron (second from left), who headed the park and the event, is joined in welcoming Wal-Mart Transportation Director Bill Hudnall and drivers Mike McBee and Alan Veley, and his daughter Chelsea.

Brenda Hayes Graham and Mary Alice Hayes performed America the Beautiful and Kay Ricks invited the crowd to sing “Proud to be an American” with her.

Next to take the microphone was Winslow Police Chief Stephen Garnett and then Fire Chief Boney Candelaria, who read a poem entitled “They Knew and They Went In Anyway.”

The Native American Air Ambulance flew in the American Flag for the occasion. The flag was presented to a large group of law enforcement officers from the Winslow Police Department, Navajo County Sheriff’s Office and the Department of Correction, several EMT’s and a few fire fighters. That group then passed the flag to the American Legion Color Guard, who passed it to officers of the Hopi Jr/Sr R.O.T.C. program. They then passed the flag to three Marines who passed it to a member of the Boy Scouts.
