On a recent visit to Ireland (my first), I witnessed the wonderful progress the Irish are making educating some of their children through Irish medium instruction (total immersion in Irish).
This was especially significant for it is taking place at a time when the Irish are enjoying unprecedented economic prosperity. Native languages are usually associated with poverty but not over there and not at this time.
