WHS athletes reap more honors

Winslow High School spring sport athletes continued to reap post-season honors as The Navajo Times announced its All Area Teams.

Senior Michael Beeson took the Baseball Player of the Year honors for the second straight year. Art Griffith was named Baseball Coach of the Year. Anthony Carter was named the Male Track and Field Athlete of the Year. Bob Bordner was selected as the Track and Field Coach of the Year.

Winslow was well represented on the All Area All Star Baseball Team with outfielder Beeson, pitcher Steven Martinez, catcher Nathan Garner and infielder Seth Davis all representing the Bulldogs.

Pitcher Daphne Barton and infielder Erica Armenta were selected to the All Area All Star Softball Team.

Girls’ All Area Track Team members from Winslow included Joanna Black (800 meters), Jackie Foster (shot put) and Stephanie Garnett (long jump).

Boys’ All Area Track Team members from Winslow included Carter, Shimeon Mattox (200 meter hurdles) and Nick Patton (pole vault).
