The Winslow Bulldogs defeated the Tuba City Warriors 74-49 in an Enchantment Region basketball game played on Saturday at Tuba City. The victory kept Winslow in the regional title hunt with a record of 7-1 and improved their mark to 14-6 for the season. Tuba City fell to 10-8 for the season and 5-4 in the region.

The Bulldogs pounced on the Warriors in the first period and led 22-6 at its conclusion. The margin was a commanding 41-14 at the intermission and 67-37 after three periods.

Seth Davis led all scorers with 17 points for Winslow. Evander Lee with 16 points and Bryan Curtis with 12 were also in double figures for the Bulldogs.

Robert Morgan was in double figures with 10 points for the Warriors. Devin Dugi added nine for Tuba City.

The Winslow Lady Bulldogs took a huge step toward winning the regular season Enchantment Region Championship with a 50-47 overtime victory over the Tuba City Lady Warriors in Tuba City on Saturday. The win left the Lady Bulldogs in sole possession of first place in the region with a perfect 7-0 record. Winslow is 15-4 for the season. Tuba City fell to 7-2 in the region and 17-3 for the season.

Nicole Begaii led all scorers with 33 points for the Lady Bulldogs including six three-point baskets. Faith Carpenter was also in double figures with 19 points for Winslow.

Coco Tsingine led Tuba City with 14 points. Krisheena Tsingine was also in double figures with 11 points.

Lindsey Begaii scored only three points for Winslow, but had two of the team’s five overtime points when they needed them most. Winslow had taken a one point lead when Carpenter converted one of two charities, then Tuba City moved in front 47-46 on a two-point field goal. Carpenter was fouled again, but injured on the play. Begaii came off the bench to shoot the critical free throws. The freshman converted both to give the Lady Bulldogs a 48-47 lead they never surrendered. Carpenter came back to score two more charity tosses for the last points of the game.

Tuba City had led at every quarter break before Winslow tied the score at the end of regulation at 45-45. Both teams had opportunities to win the game at the end of regulation but could not convert. The Lady Warriors had led 9-6 after the first period, 24-22 at the intermission and 36-33 after three periods.

Winslow will host Holbrook on Thursday and Hopi on Saturday in Enchantment Region games.
