The Monument Valley Mustangs edged the Winslow Bulldogs 78-72 in an Enchantment Region basketball game played in Kayenta on Saturday.
The teams came into the game undefeated in regional play. Monument Valley improved its record to 12-3 for the season and 5-0 in the region.
Winslow fell to 10-6 for the season and 5-1 in the region.
The teams were tied after ever quarter at 19-19 after the first period, 39-39 at the intermission and 54-54 after three periods.
Monument Valley scored 12 of its 24 fourth quarter points from the charity stripe to seal the victory.
The Mustangs enjoyed a 10-point advantage from the line, connecting on 21 of 28 attempts to 11 of 15 for the Bulldogs.
Bryan Curtis led Winslow with 22 points.
Manuelito Shirley with 14 points and Evander Lee and Reed Hancock with 10 were also in double figures for the Bulldogs. Seth Davis added nine points. Davis and Hancock both fouled out of the contest.
Mitchell Emerson led all scorers with 26 points for Monument Valley.
Loren Walls with 18 points and Kyle Phillips with 14 were also in double figures for the Mustangs.
Winslow hosted Ganado in an Enchantment Region game on Tuesday.
The Bulldogs will host St. Johns in a non-conference game on Thursday and journey to Tuba City for a rematch with the Warriors on Saturday in a regional contest.
