Bulldogs Second In Region

The Winslow Bulldogs finished second in the Enchantment Region Tournament at Greyhills Academy in Tuba City. The Bulldogs defeated Tuba City 63-59 in overtime on Friday to reach the tournament finals, but lost to Monument Valley 81-70 in the Championship Game on Saturday.

Tuba City 59 (overtime)

The Bulldogs outscored the Warriors 10-6 in overtime to claim a 63-59 victory in the semi-final game of the Enchantment Region Tournament on Friday. The teams had finished regulation play tied at 53-53. Tuba City led 18-15 after the first period, but the Bulldogs were on top 34-31 at the intermission. The game was tied at 42-42 after three periods and 53-53 at the end of regulation.

Avery Bahe led Winslow with 16 points. Bryan Curtis with 15 points and Shane Garnett with 13 were also in double figures for Winslow. Devin Dugi of Tuba City led all scorers with 21 points. Michael Justice with 16 points and Donny Curtis with 14 were also in double figures for Tuba City.

The Monument Valley Mustangs claimed the Enchantment Region Championship with an 81-70 victory over the Winslow Bulldogs on Saturday. The Mustangs established a narrow 18-14 lead in the first period and maintained their advantage at each quarter. The margin was 41-35 at the intermission and 61-56 after three periods.

Evander Lee paced Winslow with 32 points. Bryan Curtis with 15 points and Seth Davis with 13 were also in double figures for the Bulldogs. Mitchell Emerson of Monument Valley led all scorers with 33 points. Loren Walls with 17 points and Adrian Doctor with 11 were also in double figures for the Mustangs.

Winslow took a 20-7 record into Arizona State 3A Tournament play on Tuesday.
