The Winslow Bulldogs defeated the Hopi Bruins 73-53 in an Enchantment Region basketball game played at Polacca on Saturday. The Bulldogs completed their regular season 18-7 for the season and 12-2 in the Enchantment Region. Hopi completed its season 6-12 and 2-12 in the region.

Winslow established a 15-7 lead during the first period and had margins of 32-22 at the intermission and 48-33 after three periods.

Bryan Curtis led the Bulldogs with 20 points. Stephen Hancock with 17 points, Evander Lee with 14 and Shane Garnett with 12 were all in double figures for the victors. Dellen Lomayestewa led all scorers with 24 points for Hopi.

Winslow lost the services of senior guard Seth Davis due to an emergency appendectomy. The Bulldogs were already missing guard Manuelito Shirley who was still out with an injury.

The Bulldogs ended the regular season tied with Monument Valley for first place in the Enchantment Region, but lost the coin toss on Thursday and will enter the regional tournament on Friday as the second seeded team. Their opponent will be determined as a result of action to take place on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The Winslow Lady Bulldogs defeated the Hopi Lady Bruins 68-40 at Polacca on Saturday to finish the regular season as undefeated Enchantment Region Champions. Winslow completed its schedule with a 14-0 record in the region and a 22-4 record for the season. The Lady Bulldogs will be the first seed in the Enchantment Region Tournament and play an opponent to be determined later at 6 p.m. on Friday at Tuba City.

Hopi held the Lady Bulldogs to a 16-16 tie at the end of the first period of play, but fell back to trail 34-25 at the intermission. By the end of the third quarter, Winslow held a commanding 51-34 margin.

Faith Carpenter led all scorers with 14 points for the Lady Bulldogs. Lexine Jensen was also in double figures for Winslow with 12 points. Chassity Gould scored 11 points to lead Hopi.
