Code Green disaster drill in Tuba City<br>

To make the mock disaster more real, containers of highway green canned smoke were released into the air. The residual smoke trail helped determine where and how the emergency services should respond.

Police officers from both the Hopi and Navajo Tribes worked side by side to see how quickly their personnel could respond to a chemical disaster in terms of traffic flow. Hospital personnel were in full working force to address the varied degrees of mock injuries. Ambulance crews also worked in a relay fashion to transport “victims” to the TCRHCC triage/emergency areas.

The Hopi Village of Upper Moencopi provided professional observation and evaluation for the drill with Governor Alene Garcia posted directly behind the scene of the mock disaster.

Both Tuba City High School and Greyhills Academy High School went through a “lock-down” drill in the afternoon to see how quickly staff and security could secure their students in safe areas.

TC Media Team provided the video and photo documentation of the event. The CERT Team will review these at a later date to further streamline response to disaster needs.
