Thomas Jefferson Elementary

Troy McReynolds grew up in Flagstaff and graduated from Coconino High School. He graduated from the University of Arizona with a bachelor’s degree in finance and a minor in Italian.

McReynolds went to work for WUSD as a third grade teacher. After two years, he moved to the sixth grade. He then spent four years teaching eighth grade government and English.

McReynolds spent three years serving as assistant principal at the junior high. During this time he received a master’s degree in education leadership. He then was named principal at Thomas Jefferson Elementary and is beginning his second year.

This year, McReynolds hopes to increase the student achievement in their learning and empower their parents to get involved in their child’s learning. He also hopes to improve classroom and instruction.

“I really hope to move from being a good school to being a more effective school,” he explained. “We are having a lot of teacher training to ensure this.”

He is married to Kim.
